Excel Society is seeking a Marketing and Communications Assistant to support our mission of enhancing engagement, awareness, volunteerism, and philanthropic initiatives.

Hours of Work : Hours of work: 20 flex hours (40 hours biweekly)

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, edit, proofread, and format internal and external communications including announcements, articles, newsletters, website content, promotional materials, and social media posts.
  • Maintain and update website content, ensuring information remains accurate, current, accessible, and aligned with organizational standards.
  • Coordinate the production and distribution of newsletters and recurring organizational communications.
  • Support social media activities by scheduling content, maintaining content calendars, and monitoring engagement.
  • Gather stories, photographs, program updates, and other content from departments and stakeholders.
  • Assist with communications campaigns, community engagement initiatives, organizational events, and fundraising activities.
  • Maintain communication records, digital assets, editorial calendars, approval processes, and project documentation.
  • Compile communication metrics and prepare reports using approved reporting tools and templates.
  • Ensure all communications meet organizational standards for accuracy, accessibility, quality, and brand compliance.

Requirements:

  • Certificate or diploma in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, digital media, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Related experience in communications, marketing, digital content, or administrative support. Relevant practicum, internship, volunteer, or non-profit experience may be considered..
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated editing and proofreading ability.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, content management systems, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to prepare routine digital and print materials using approved templates and basic design tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, accessible, and high-quality work.
  • Satisfactory criminal record check.
