Marketing and Communications Manager - Regent Kuala Lumpur (Pre-opening)

YOUR DAY TO DAY

  • Media strategy: Responsible for further developing, implementing, and fine-tuning the organization’s media strategy. Building media relations; identifying media opportunities; anticipating challenges and coordinating responses.
  • Influencers & KOLs: To have a list of relevant luxury influencers & KOLs that can be activated for hotel stays and special event opportunities.
  • Maintains a comprehensive list of international and local media contacts.
  • Crisis Management: To work closely with Director of Marketing & Communications to develop media plans to tackle any crises that may occur.
  • Public Relations Events: Organize media launches and PR events that generate strong media interest and create meaningful opportunities for positive coverage.
  • Supports Director of Marketing to manage external vendors and media agencies; work with agency partners to identify strategic media buys for the hotel.
  • Liaises with IHG Brand Team’s PR leadership to ensure media placement for hotel supports the overall hotel marketing strategy.
  • Acts as a consulting resource for property marketing and ensures all photography adheres to brand voice.
  • Internal Communications: To support the internal communications requirements of the Marketing team.
  • Social media. Working with the Digital Marketing Manager to support the hotel’s growing social media requirements by supplying content and dovetailing with traditional media activity.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the management from time to time.

GUEST EXPERIENCE

  • Shape positive media coverage and public perception that builds guest confidence and anticipation before they arrive
  • Ensure PR events, media visits, and influencer stay reflect the same care and poise guests experience throughout their journey
  • Support crisis communications with speed and discretion, protecting the guest experience when issues arise
  • Work with the Digital Marketing Manager to ensure media and social storytelling stay consistent with the guest journey

RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS

  • Uphold ethical, transparent media relations practices, including honest disclosure in influencer and media partnerships
  • Ensure crisis communications protocols comply with legal, regulatory, and IHG brand requirements
  • Manage media and PR budgets responsibly, tracking spends and value against agreed outcomes
  • Protect the hotel's reputation and licence to operate through responsible, accurate public communications

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Growth and quality of the hotel's media coverage, reputation, and share of voice
  • A maintained, active network of relevant media, influencer, and KOL relationships
  • Timely, effective crisis communication response when issues arise
  • Successful delivery of PR events, media launches, and press opportunities that support hotel visibility

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • To thrive in this role and bring poise and precision to the guest journey, you'll need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience in public relations, media relations, or communications, ideally in hospitality or luxury lifestyle
  • An existing network of media, press, and luxury influencer/KOL contacts
  • Proven crisis communications experience, with the ability to respond quickly and professionally under pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to craft compelling press materials
  • Confident representing the hotel with media, partners, and external stakeholders
