Marketing Campaign Specialist

Groupon connects 42 million customers with local experiences - restaurants, events, wellness and travel - and the million-plus merchants who deliver them. Our mission is to get people offline and into the real world at prices that make it possible. We're an AI-native company in the middle of a platform transformation, moving from a deals marketplace to an experience discovery platform that works for customers and merchants at the same time.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Marketing Campaign Specialist owns Groupon's internal promotional campaigns across all markets — from strategy and planning through execution, quality assurance, and post-campaign analysis.

The role blends hands-on campaign delivery with strategy and analysis. Roughly half of it is campaign delivery and analysis; the other half is driving campaign strategy and planning, process and automation, and performance reporting.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Own Groupon's internal promotional campaigns end to end across all markets — from concept and brief through inventory, landing pages, launch, and quality assurance.
  2. Co-drive campaign strategy and planning — shaping the quarterly campaign calendar, themes and category focus, per-market discount tiers and mechanics, and campaign overlap.
  3. Lead execution of the major campaign and sale moments; collaborate with the brand team on their campaigns and coordinate the wider team on smaller campaigns, acting as validator and support.
  4. Define per-market inventory and landing-page set-up — target groups, carousels, and supply, prioritised using live performance data.
  5. Propose the creative direction for campaigns, acting as the main point of contact for the design team; review and validate campaign assets before launch.
  6. Run multi-market quality assurance on homepages and landing pages, driving issues to resolution.
  7. Report on and present campaign performance — producing performance reporting and post-campaign analysis, and surfacing actionable learnings.
  8. Deliver campaign-related automation and AI projects, and contribute to other cross-functional projects that require the campaign team.

RESPONSIBILITIES IN DETAIL

  • Campaign ownership across markets - Own Groupon's internal promotional campaigns end to end across all markets — from concept and brief through inventory, landing pages, launch, and quality assurance. Act as the reference point for how each campaign comes together and help ensure it launches on time, in every market, with the right inventory, correct copy, and working landing pages.
  • Campaign strategy and planning - Co-drive the campaign strategy and plan — the quarterly campaign calendar, campaign themes and category focus, per-market discount tiers and mechanics, and the management of campaign overlap — with the Marketing Campaign Manager holding final sign-off.
  • Execution focus and team collaboration - Lead the execution of the major campaign and sale moments — the primary hands-on delivery part of the role. Collaborate with the brand team on their campaigns, and coordinate the campaign team’s effort on the smaller campaigns, acting as a validator and support.
  • Inventory and landing pages - Define the per-market inventory and landing-page set-up: target groups, carousels, and supply, prioritised using live performance data so emerging categories surface rather than repeating last year’s structure. Cross-check briefs against data and live, promo-eligible inventory.
  • Creative direction - Propose the creative direction for each campaign, with the Marketing Campaign Manager holding sign-off, acting as the main point of contact for the design team. Review and validate campaign assets and localisation before launch to ensure quality and consistency across formats and markets.
  • Quality assurance - Run multi-market quality assurance across homepages and campaign landing pages — checking promo codes, hero and tiles, carousel deal counts, missing sections, localisation, and page titles. Classify findings by severity, raise them to the right owners, and track them to resolution.
  • Reporting and analysis - Produce and present campaign performance reporting and post-campaign analysis, pulling the numbers together and surfacing clear, actionable learnings that feed into the next campaign.
  • Automation and AI projects - Deliver campaign-related automation and AI projects, identifying manual steps that can be streamlined and working with the relevant teams to improve campaign tooling. Contribute to other cross-functional projects that require input or support from the campaign team.

SUCCESS MEASURES

Performance in the role is assessed against the following measures. Specific targets are agreed separately as part of regular goal setting.

  1. Campaign revenue — total revenue generated by internal promotional campaigns vs. plan.
  2. Campaign share of company revenue — share of total company revenue attributable to campaigns.
  3. Creative performance — CTR of campaign creatives and quality and consistency of assets across markets.
  4. Execution reliability — campaigns launch on time in all markets; no critical QA findings at launch, with issues resolved quickly.
  5. Insight loop — post-campaign analysis delivered promptly after each campaign, with learnings applied to the next cycle.
  6. Automation and workflow projects — delivery of agreed automation and AI projects that reduce manual effort or improve campaign performance.
  7. Off-season activation — in collaboration with sales and market intelligence, build campaign plans that cover out-of-season periods; measured by off-peak campaign revenue vs. prior year.
