Marketing & Communications Specialist
Oakwood Country Club Marketing & Communications Specialist
Reports to: Corporate Director of Marketing & Communications and General Manager of Oakwood Country Club
Job Summary
Operates as the on-site marketing department for the club, independently executing the marketing and communications plan set in partnership with the Corporate Director. Owns day-to-day design production, social media, website content, and member communications, escalating strategic decisions, brand questions, and budget items to corporate oversight as needed.
Graphic Design & Production
- Independently designs and produces all print and digital marketing materials — membership brochures, event collateral, signage, menus, tournament materials, and promotional/membership kits — using Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent tools.
- Manages layout and production of club publications (newsletters, magazine, annual report) from concept through print-ready file.
- Conducts press checks for high-end print production and manages relationships with local print vendors.
- Applies corporate brand standards independently, flagging the Corporate Director on any exceptions or new brand applications.
Social Media & Digital Content
- Owns the club's social media accounts end-to-end: content calendar, graphic and short-form video creation, posting, and community engagement.
- Tracks performance metrics and adjusts content strategy, reporting results to the Corporate Director on a regular cadence.
- Creates platform-optimized content tailored to each channel's format and audience.
Website & SEO
- Maintains and updates all website content and the online member directory as sole content owner.
- Applies working SEO practices (metadata, keywords, alt text, site structure) to support visibility, without requiring outside SEO support.
- Monitors basic analytics (web traffic, engagement) to inform ongoing content decisions.
Communications & Editorial
- Writes, edits, and approves internal and external communications, including newsletters and email campaigns, with final sign-off from the Corporate Director on sensitive or high-visibility pieces.
- Manages email marketing platform, direct mail coordination, and event promotion calendars independently.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Serves as point of contact for department heads (Golf, Events, Food & Beverage, etc.) on all marketing needs, translating requests into finished materials without additional design staff.
- Coordinates the annual golf marketing plan directly with the Golf Professional General Manager.
- Manages freelance or contract support (writers, photographers, vendors) as needed for overflow work, with Corporate Director approval on spend.
- Leads local publicity and media relations efforts, with corporate messaging guidance as needed.
Administrative
- Manages advertising sales coordination, billing, and revenue tracking for club publications.
- Photographs club events for marketing and archival use.
