About this opportunity:
Maintains a thorough awareness of program operations, community needs, and trends, and develops an effective short and long-range communications strategy to ensure The Salvation Army maintains a favorable and positive image in the communities it serves. Prepares internal, membership, external, and social media marketing material for the assigned Kroc Center to include (but are not limited to): preparation of a marketing calendar, brand compliance, electronic/social media communications, preparation of electronic and printed marketing materials, photography, and narrative writing/editing. Collaborates with leadership, and local, Divisional and Territorial colleagues to assure a seamless marketing message on external platforms, including ad placements and trades. May supervise marketing subordinates.
Key responsibilities:
- Understands Kroc Center programs, maintains an awareness of community interest, trends, and develops an effective marketing philosophy in collaboration with the supervisor and the Territorial Kroc Marketing Manager to ensure media visibility, interest, and collaborative relationships.
- Collaborate regularly with program and membership leaders to develop and publish internally a marketing strategy for all programs and campaigns.
- Develops and implements a project management process that ensures timely deployment of program and campaign promotions and collateral materials.
- Serves as the lead in all aspects of Kroc social media, texting and website information and stories (both written and video); monitors analytics and maintains reports that measure the effectiveness of social media activities; adjusts initiatives appropriately.
- Writes and/or edits various materials, articles, and press releases to communicate and promote the Center offerings to the community.
- Designs, prepares, and coordinates the appearance of all print and electronic materials such as brochures, charts, posters, program guides, newsletters, e-newsletters, annual reports and other publications; determines appropriate avenue and audience for distribution; determines methods for measuring success of campaigns and adjusts as necessary.
- Recruits, maintains, and cultivates relationships with the media including print, radio and television; coordinates planning meetings; develops story ideas for coverage; serves as a Salvation Army representative or Kroc Center spokesperson as directed; represents The Salvation Army in a professional and positive manner.
- Ensures that all information on all printed materials, social media platforms and the website are accurate and current.
- Complies with branding standards (both in graphics and voice) as set forth by The Salvation Army.
- Take photographs and video that properly depict the Kroc Center mission and programs.
- Work with leadership and PR Department to maximize the Kroc Center image and impact on community by assisting with design and execution of external multi-media plans including TV, radio, publications, ad placements, and co-branding efforts.
- Writes and/or edits various materials, articles, and press releases to communicate and promote the Center offerings to the community.
- Maintains an inventory of Kroc giveaways for volunteers and members.
- Creates graphics as needed for marketing opportunities, as well as use existing and future graphic resources from the MAC, Kroc Toolkits and Territorial Marketing departments.
What are we looking for in you:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field,
- Three years of progressively responsible experience performing marketing and PR, journalism, writing and/or editing functions,
- Two years of experience in social media management and metrics – or -
- any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
Must have a Valid Driver’s License
