Marketing Coordinator, Design - Contractor
Summary
Design-focused Marketing Coordinator contractor role creating visual content across social media, email, web, and events for a global coffee industry association, primarily using Adobe Creative Suite.
The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) is seeking a Marketing Coordinator, Design to bring our brand to life visually across digital and print channels. This is a design-first role: we need someone who is a genuinely strong designer first, and a marketing generalist second.
This role is ideal for someone early in their design career who is hungry to grow — someone who already has real design chops (layout, typography, composition) and is eager to keep sharpening them on a global brand, rather than someone looking to build a broad, general marketing skill set.
What You'll Do
Visual Design & Content Creation (core of the role)
- Design social media content (Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) that is polished, on-brand, and built to perform in each platform's format.
- Create visual assets for email newsletters, campaigns, and the website.
- Design presentations, reports, and marketing materials with strong layout and typography.
- Create visuals for application on structures and signage for events.
- Manage an internal request pipeline, delivering projects to brief and on time.
- Apply SCA's brand guidelines and visual identity consistently and thoughtfully, not just mechanically.
- Become an expert in the SCA brand and its application across mediums.
Brand & Creative Quality
- Maintain visual consistency across every design output.
- Bring creative ideas to campaigns and storytelling, not just execute someone else's layout.
- Stay current on design trends and bring fresh visual thinking to the team.
Light Marketing Support (secondary, not the focus)
- Help format and schedule finished designs across platforms.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to gather content and assets needed for design work.
What We're Looking For
Design Skills & Experience (required)
- A portfolio demonstrating strong graphic design fundamentals — layout, typography, composition, and color.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Ability to apply an existing brand system consistently across many different assets.
- Experience with Canva or Figma is a plus, but not a substitute for strong Adobe Creative Suite skills.
Attributes
- Hungry and eager to learn — actively looking to grow as a designer, not just complete assigned tasks.
- Highly organized with strong attention to visual detail.
- Comfortable taking and applying creative feedback.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Interest in coffee or global food/beverage culture is a plus.
What You'll Gain
- Hands-on experience designing for a global brand, with real creative ownership.
- Direct mentorship and feedback to sharpen your design craft.
- Exposure to marketing across digital, events, and education — without needing to own those areas.
- International travel.
- A collaborative, mission-driven team environment.
