Summary of Functions
The Director of Marketing provides strategic leadership for the marketing and brand for Northern Quest Resort & Casino. This role is responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing plans and strategies that drive revenue growth, guest acquisition, and brand visibility across the property’s gaming, resort, entertainment, retail, and sponsorship initiatives.
The Director oversees all advertising, digital marketing, brand management, and media strategy, ensuring all marketing efforts strengthen Northern Quest’s position as a premier regional gaming and entertainment destination. This position works closely with gaming, resort operations, entertainment, and loyalty leadership to align marketing strategies with operational priorities, guest experience objectives, and financial performance goals while ensuring compliance with Tribal gaming regulations and enterprise policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy and Brand Leadership

Establish and lead the integrated marketing and brand initiatives to drive visitation, gaming revenue, and resort utilization.
Ensure consistent brand positioning and messaging across all marketing channels and guest communications.
Evaluate market trends, guest insights, and competitive activity to identify strategic opportunities that enhance market share and brand relevance.

Property Market Integration

Partner with gaming and resort leadership to align marketing initiatives with operational priorities, including casino gaming, hotel and RV, food and beverage, spa, retail, and entertainment offerings.
Lead marketing strategies that increase guest visitation, rated play, resort occupancy, and cross-property guest engagement.
Coordinate marketing support for property events, promotions, and entertainment programming to drive visitation and regional awareness.
Collaborate with loyalty marketing, player development, and database marketing teams to ensure marketing strategies support guest loyalty programs and reinvestment strategies.

Advertising, Digital & Media Strategy

Oversee the development and execution of advertising and marketing campaigns across digital, broadcast, print, social media, and emerging platforms.
Direct agency partnerships, media planning, and creative strategy to maximize marketing effectiveness and return on investment.
Ensure digital marketing initiatives including website, social media, on-property digital, and online advertising align with brand standards and marketing objectives.

Entertainment, Retail & Sponsorship Marketing

Lead marketing strategies supporting Northern Quest’s entertainment venues, major events, and headline performances to strengthen market visibility and drive visitation.
Support marketing initiatives that promote retail outlets, property amenities, and guest experiences to increase non-gaming revenue and overall guest engagement.
Develop and oversee sponsorship and partnership marketing opportunities that expand brand exposure and community presence.

Marketing Analytics & Performance Management

Establish performance metrics and reporting frameworks to evaluate marketing effectiveness, guest acquisition, and return on marketing investment.
Utilize guest data, analytics, and market research to inform strategic marketing decisions and improve campaign performance.
Oversee competitive intelligence and market research efforts to identify emerging trends and strategic opportunities.

Financial Stewardship

Develop and manage the marketing department operating budget and ensure responsible allocation of marketing resources.
Evaluate marketing investments, vendor relationships, and media expenditures to maximize return on investment and support property financial objectives.

Regulatory Compliance & Governance

Ensure marketing activities comply with the Kalispel Tribe of Indians–State of Washington Gaming Compact, NIGC regulations, and all applicable Tribal policies and internal controls.
Maintain marketing policies, procedures, and operational standards that support regulatory compliance and enterprise governance.

Supervisory Responsibilities
The Director of Marketing provides leadership and oversight for the Northern Quest Resort & Casino marketing department and associated functional teams. This position provides leadership oversight for multiple marketing functional areas and may include supervision of senior leaders responsible for specialized marketing functions.
Responsibilities include:

Direct supervision of marketing leadership and professional staff including positions such as Marketing Managers, Digital Marketing Supervisor, Graphics Manager, Public Relations Director, Loyalty Marketing Director, and other marketing functional leaders.
Oversight of approximately 5 direct reports and 21 indirect reports across marketing functions.
Authority for hiring, performance management, coaching, disciplinary action, and professional development of department staff.
Oversight of departmental staffing levels, organizational structure, and workforce planning within the marketing function.
Responsibility for establishing departmental goals, performance expectations, and operational standards.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, Hospitality Management, or related field.
Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or related discipline preferred.

Experience

Ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in a business to consumer (B2C) marketing position; preferably within the gaming, hospitality, entertainment, or resort industry.
Seven (7) years of management experience leading marketing teams or related functional areas.
Demonstrated experience managing integrated marketing campaigns, advertising strategies, and brand development initiatives.
Experience overseeing marketing budgets, vendor relationships, and agency partnerships.
Experience working in a Tribal gaming environment or highly regulated industry preferred.

Skills & Abilities

Strong strategic marketing leadership with the ability to translate business objectives into measurable marketing initiatives.
Advanced understanding of marketing analytics, campaign measurement, and return-on-investment evaluation.
Strong financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, and marketing cost management.
Ability to analyze market data, customer insights, and competitive activity to guide strategic decision-making.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex marketing programs across multiple communication channels and customer segments.
Excellent leadership and organizational development skills with the ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with executive leadership, department heads, and external partners.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced gaming and hospitality environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and marketing technology platforms including CRM systems, digital marketing tools, and marketing analytics platforms.

Other Requirements

Ability to obtain and maintain Tribal Gaming License
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays when required by business needs
Ability to maintain consistent, regular attendance
Valid driver’s license and insurability if operating a Tribal vehicle

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this position.

Work is performed primarily in an office and casino resort environment.
The employee may occasionally be exposed to tobacco smoke, moderate noise levels, and large guest crowds typical of a casino and entertainment venue.
Interaction with guests, vendors, and external partners is a routine part of the role.
Occasional attendance at events, promotions, or community functions may be required.

Travel Requirements
Local travel occasionally required for community partnerships, sponsorship initiatives, and promotional events. Out-of-state travel may occur infrequently for industry conferences, vendor meetings, or marketing strategy initiatives. Typical duration is generally less than one week.
