Marketing Generalist
About the Role
Social Cascade is hiring a Marketing Generalist who can move fluidly between event marketing, digital campaigns, growth experiments, storytelling, and even direct mail. This role is built for someone who loves variety, gets things done without a lot of process or hand-holding, and is energized by testing new channels to see what moves the needle for a fast-growing healthtech startup.
You'll own marketing execution end-to-end: planning and staffing conference/event presence, running digital campaigns (email, social, paid, SEO/content), and experimenting with growth tactics, including direct mail to reach practice decision-makers. You'll also be the storyteller for the brand building customer case studies, writing and posting on social, and creating content and sales enablement assets. You'll work closely with the founders and the sales team to make sure marketing directly supports pipeline and customer growth. Healthcare industry experience is a strong plus, but the top priority is someone scrappy, creative, and comfortable wearing many hats.
What You'll Do
- Plan, staff, and execute Social Cascade's presence at healthcare conferences and industry events, including logistics, booth materials, and follow-up campaigns.
- Build and run digital marketing campaigns across email, paid social, organic social, and content/SEO to drive awareness and pipeline.
- Test and iterate on growth tactics including landing pages, lead magnets, referral programs, partnerships, and other channels to find what works and double down on it.
- Design and run direct mail campaigns targeting practice owners and decision-makers as a complementary outbound channel.
- Own Social Cascade's brand voice and content across the website, social channels, email, and collateral, working within the company's brand guidelines.
- Produce sales enablement materials (one-pagers, case studies, decks) in partnership with the sales and customer success teams.
- Track and report on campaign performance, using data to guide where marketing time and budget should go next.
- Manage marketing vendors, tools, and budget as needed (design, print/mail, ad platforms, event logistics).
Who You Are
- 3+ years of marketing experience spanning at least two of: event marketing, digital marketing, growth/demand generation, or direct mail.
- Comfortable being a true generalist who is happy to plan a trade show booth one day and build an email nurture sequence the next.
- Scrappy and resourceful; you'd rather launch a quick test than wait for a perfect plan.
- Strong writer and communicator who can capture a consistent brand voice across channels.
- Data-curious and comfortable looking at campaign metrics and adjusting course based on what you see.
- Organized enough to run multiple campaigns and projects at once without things falling through the cracks.
- Comfortable with common marketing tools (email platforms, social schedulers, basic design tools, CRM).
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience marketing to healthcare practices, physicians, or health systems.
- Experience planning and staffing booths/presence at medical or healthcare conferences.
- Hands-on experience with direct mail campaign design and execution.
- Familiarity with growth-hacking tactics (referral loops, viral mechanics, conversion rate optimization).
- Startup marketing experience, especially at an early stage with limited resources.
- Basic design skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar) to move quickly without waiting on outside designers.
Location and Travel
This is a remote-first role based in the greater Raleigh-Durham area. Regular in-person collaboration with the team is expected along with conference and event travel of approximately once per month.
Compensation, Benefits & Perks
- Base salary: $60,000–$90,000, based on experience.
- Equity: Opportunity to gain equity in a venture-backed startup.
- 401k: Employer matching
- Health Benefits: Starting 26Q4!
- Time Off: Unlimited Paid Time Off (PTO) to ensure you can recharge.
- Summer Fridays and flexible work hours.
- Travel: Conference travel, dining, and lodging expenses fully covered.
- Tech: Company-provided tech setup (laptop, monitors, etc.).
Why This Role
As Social Cascade's first dedicated marketing hire, you'll have wide latitude to decide which channels are worth the company's time and direct access to the founders to shape strategy. This is a rare chance to build the marketing function from scratch at a mission-driven, NIH-backed healthcare startup with a clear path to growing into a Head of Marketing role as the team scales.
