About Steel

Steel is building open-source browser infrastructure for AI agents and apps. We make it easy for developers to ship AI products that interact with the web using our Sessions API.

With over 7,000 GitHub stars, dozens of paying customers, and millions of sessions served monthly, we grew our platform 50x in 2025 purely through word-of-mouth and our open-source community. Backed by world-class investors, we're building a small, highly motivated, and talent-dense team that's shaping the future of how humans interact with the internet.

More on the problems we're solving:

The Role

We're looking for a creative, chronically online marketing intern to help make Steel impossible to ignore.

You'll work closely with our team to create content, experiment with new ideas, and find creative ways to get Steel in front of developers building the next generation of AI agents.
You'll help shape how Steel shows up online, bringing together content, design, and creative experimentation to build a brand that resonates with developers. We're looking for someone with good taste, a pulse on internet culture, and the ability to turn ideas into things people actually want to see and share.

Sample projects include...

  • Creating social content that gets people talking about Steel

  • Shooting and editing short-form videos, product demos, and behind-the-scenes content

  • Designing graphics, social assets, and other creative materials in Figma

  • Experimenting with trends, formats, and unconventional ways to reach developer audiences

  • Helping launch new features, open-source projects, and creative campaigns

  • Working with engineers to uncover interesting stories, identify compelling angles, and turn technical work into content developers want to share

  • Bringing creative ideas to life, from concept to execution

Requirements

  • Chronically online. You understand internet culture, emerging trends, and what makes content resonate

  • Have good taste and strong creative instincts, whether in design, writing, video, or something else entirely

  • Comfortable creating things, experimenting with different formats, and learning new tools

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to turn technical ideas into compelling, accessible content

  • Resourceful, self-directed, and willing to figure things out as you go

  • Genuinely interested in AI and developer tools. You keep up with what people are building and have opinions about what's exciting and why

  • Able to work in person from our Toronto office

Nice-to-haves

  • Have built something with AI, whether it's a side project, app, automation, or experiment. You don't need to be an engineer, but you should understand what excites developers.

  • Experience with Figma, video editing, photography, or motion graphics

  • Have grown a social media account, created content, or built an online community

  • Have a portfolio of creative projects, even if they're just things you've made for fun

  • Familiarity with developer communities on X, Reddit, Hacker News, or Discord

  • Experience organizing events, running campaigns, or working on a startup or side project

Applying

Show us what you've made. It could be a video, a design, a social media account, a side project, or something completely unrelated to marketing. We're more interested in your creativity, taste, and initiative than a traditional marketing résumé.

Want to stand out? Pick something Steel (or another developer tools company) has recently launched and show us how you'd share it with the world. What would you highlight? Who would you try to reach? What would you actually post?

If there appears to be a fit, we'll reach out to schedule an interview and discuss your work and ideas.
