Description

JOB TITLE: Marketing Manager

DEPARTMENT: Marketing

REPORTS TO: Chief Marketing Officer

DIRECT REPORTS: Graphic Designer; Farkas Fellow and interns as assigned

POSITION TYPE: Full time, exempt

LOCATION: Lambda Chi Alpha Office of Administration, Carmel, IN

SUMMARY

The Marketing Manager owns growth and brand marketing for Lambda Chi Alpha and runs the marketing process the whole team uses. This role turns organizational priorities into coordinated campaigns that recruit, engage and retain undergraduates, parents, alumni, volunteers and campus partners. It also runs the intake, calendar, design and publishing process for every marketing request, including requests from the Product Marketing Manager and internal teams.

This role is the primary operational partner to the Chief Marketing Officer and works most closely with Strategy and Growth and the Salesforce team. It is a peer to the Product Marketing Manager. The Product Marketing Manager owns what we say about member development programs. This role owns how and when marketing gets made, published and measured.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Growth and Brand Marketing

Lead integrated campaigns for recruitment, expansion, social media growth, events and the Lambda Chi Alpha brand. Translate priorities from the Chief Marketing Officer and Strategy and Growth into plans. Make sure every major campaign has a clear call to action and a defined way to measure results. Support the social media strategy and the annual growth goals in the tactical plan.

Stakeholder Pathways (“Breadcrumbs”)

Breadcrumbs are the planned steps that move a stakeholder from first contact to a meaningful action, such as attending an event, taking a leadership role or adopting a program. Manage pathways for undergraduates, alumni, volunteers and parents, track the actions in Salesforce, and improve each pathway with the Salesforce team.

Marketing Operations

Own marketing intake, prioritization and workflow for the whole team. Maintain the campaign calendar, set and publish turnaround standards, manage the design and production queue, and serve as the first escalation point for day to day conflicts. The Chief Marketing Officer designates this role as owner of the intake process, so every team member, including peers, submits requests through it. Take priority conflicts that cannot be resolved to the Chief Marketing Officer.

Data and Performance

Work with the Salesforce team to segment audiences, track activity and report results. Build one consolidated marketing report for leadership that combines growth and brand results with program results supplied by the Product Marketing Manager. Recommend changes based on what the data shows.

Staff Communication

Treat Lambda Chi Alpha staff as a stakeholder group. Keep staff informed about marketing priorities, how to request marketing support, brand standards, tools, and campaign launches that affect their work. Tell staff early when processes or timelines change. Program specific updates come from the Product Marketing Manager.

Team Leadership

Supervise the Graphic Designer and assigned fellows and interns. Plan and assign work, set priorities, give regular coaching and written feedback, and support professional development. Coordinate with the Partner Engagement Specialist on campaigns that involve partners. This is coordination, not supervision.

Working with the Product Marketing Manager

  • The Product Marketing Manager sets the audience, message and plan for member development programs and writes the core content.
  • The Marketing Manager schedules, designs, publishes and reports on that work through the shared intake process and campaign calendar.
  • The Chief Marketing Officer settles priority conflicts each quarter, not request by request, and has designated this role as owner of the intake process.

OUTCOMES AND KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

Baselines and targets are set each year with the Chief Marketing Officer.
