Marketing & Member Benefits Manager
General Description
The State Bar of Texas is seeking a seasoned multimedia sales professional to lead advertising sales, sponsorship development, member benefit partnerships, and merchandise initiatives that enhance member value and generate non-dues revenue. This position manages the Marketing & Member Benefits Department, and is responsible for developing new business, growing existing accounts, and building strategic relationships with advertisers, sponsors, and member benefit providers. The ideal candidate is a consultative seller with a proven track record of exceeding revenue goals through print, digital, sponsorship, and integrated media solutions. Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate measurable success in revenue generation, account development, and business growth.
Primary Functions
- Generate non-dues revenue through advertising sales for the Texas Bar Journal, texasbar.com, sponsorship opportunities, and member benefit partnerships.
- Prospect new business, develop and grow existing accounts, prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and package integrated advertising and sponsorship opportunities designed to meet client objectives and revenue goals.
- Manage relationships with advertisers, sponsors, member benefit providers, and prospective business partners while identifying new revenue-generating opportunities.
- Oversee member benefit and merchandise programs, vendor relationships, contracts, departmental budgets, reporting, and strategic planning activities.
- Manage the Marketing & Member Benefits Department, supervise staff, and collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to support revenue generation, member engagement, and organizational objectives.
- Assumes other responsibilities, projects and tasks as needed.
Position Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred. Five or more years of consultative B2B sales experience with a proven track record of exceeding revenue goals. Demonstrated success selling print, digital, sponsorship, membership, or integrated media solutions, including developing new business and growing existing accounts. Strong prospecting, closing, negotiation, collections, and relationship-management skills. Candidates should demonstrate self-motivation, a history of meeting or exceeding sales quotas, and accountability for revenue results. Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and customer relationship management systems. Ability to work effectively with State Bar leadership, members, volunteers, vendors, and external partners. Occasional travel may be required.
