Marketing Operations Manager
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Marketing Operations Manager based in Canada.
This is a hands-on marketing operations role focused on making the systems behind a modern B2B SaaS marketing organization reliable, scalable, and data-driven. You will own the marketing technology ecosystem, with a particular focus on Marketo and its integrations with CRM, events, enrichment, ABM, and email platforms. You will ensure campaigns launch smoothly, leads are routed accurately, and funnel data can be trusted for reporting and attribution. The role combines technical ownership, operational strategy, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement. You will work closely with Demand Generation, Events, Sales, external partners, and other stakeholders to translate business objectives into effective marketing systems. You will also have the opportunity to introduce AI-powered automation that improves efficiency, quality, and scalability. This is a remote opportunity in Canada, with preference for candidates working in the Eastern Time zone.
Accountabilities:
- Serve as the hands-on technical owner of the marketing technology stack, including Marketo and connected webinar, event, enrichment, ABM, email, and related platforms.
- Configure, maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot marketing systems while ensuring integrations and data flows operate reliably.
- Own core operational programs including lead lifecycle management, lead scoring, nurture architecture, and other critical marketing automation workflows.
- Analyze operational programs to identify performance gaps, routing issues, broken logic, and areas for improvement, then redesign and implement scalable, modular solutions.
- Independently diagnose integration issues such as synchronization failures, routing errors, field-mapping problems, and connections between marketing platforms.
- Manage email channel operations, including segmentation, personalization, dynamic content, deliverability, suppression rules, frequency governance, and audience management.
- Establish and maintain UTM standards, campaign and channel taxonomies, tracking frameworks, and attribution infrastructure to support accurate performance reporting.
- Own marketing data quality by implementing processes for data hygiene, deduplication, normalization, enrichment, and record management.
- Define operational standards, processes, and documentation for marketing systems and keep documentation current as tools and workflows evolve.
- Partner with Demand Generation, Events, and Sales teams to translate business objectives into technical requirements and prioritize incoming requests.
- Manage external execution partners by defining technical specifications, quality standards, processes, and expected outcomes.
- Mentor team members and contribute to the development of scalable marketing operations capabilities.
- Identify opportunities to use AI-powered automation for scoring, segmentation, quality assurance, data management, and repetitive operational activities while maintaining appropriate governance.
- Evaluate and recommend new marketing technologies when existing capabilities do not meet business requirements.
- Support marketing performance reporting by ensuring underlying systems and data are accurate, complete, and accessible.
- 5+ years of experience in marketing operations, ideally within a B2B SaaS environment.
- Marketo Certified Expert / Adobe Certified Expert — Marketo Engage certification, or equivalent demonstrated hands-on expertise.
- Deep practical experience with Marketo and strong functional knowledge of Salesforce, including its data model and integration with marketing automation systems.
- Proven experience owning a production lead lifecycle and scoring model, with the ability to demonstrate how you identified issues, implemented improvements, and measured results.
- Experience implementing and maintaining marketing tracking, attribution, campaign taxonomy, and reporting infrastructure.
- Strong email operations expertise, including segmentation, personalization, nurture programs, dynamic content, deliverability, sender reputation, suppression, and send governance.
- Demonstrated experience working independently as the primary or senior technical owner of a marketing automation environment.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex system and data issues independently.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple operational initiatives in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with Sales, Demand Generation, Events, technical teams, and external partners.
- Experience directing an external agency and mentoring colleagues is an advantage.
- Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, or comparable privacy and data-governance requirements is a plus.
- Experience with webinar, ABM, enrichment, or data platforms such as 6sense, Clearbit, ZoomInfo, Clay, or Rainfocus is beneficial.
- Experience with modular email-building platforms such as Knak, Stensul, or similar tools is a plus.
- Comfort using AI tools to automate operational workflows and improve marketing efficiency is highly valued.
- Competitive compensation: CA$102,000–CA$140,000 base salary, plus eligibility for a bonus.
- Remote work: Fully remote position within Canada, with preference for candidates in the Eastern Time zone.
