The $80 million non-profit performing arts organization has three divisions: TMC Arts, TMC Ops and TMC Business Services. TMC Arts, The Music Center’s programming engine, provides year-round programming inside The Music Center’s four theatres—Walt Disney Concert Hall, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Ahmanson Theatre and Mark Taper Forum—as well as on Jerry Moss Plaza, at Gloria Molina Grand Park, and in schools and neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County. TMC Ops manages the theatres, Jerry Moss Plaza and Gloria Molina Grand Park, which comprise $3 billion in county assets, on behalf of the County of Los Angeles. TMC Business Services includes Advancement, Human Resources, Finance, Tech Services, and Marketing and Communications. JOB SUMMARY


The Marketing Specialist, Brand and Marketing Communications (Specialist, B&MC) supports the Brand and Marketing Communications team, led by the Assistant Vice President, Brand and Marketing Communications, in the development and implementation of marketing and communications initiatives for The Music Center and TMC Arts. The position supports marketing efforts for free and low-cost TMC Arts programs, public relations for The Music Center as a destination and for TMC Arts programs, including the campus and Gloria Molina Grand Park, as well as work on The Music Center’s DANCE Extension (DANCEx®) program.

The Marketing Specialist, B&MC, oversees individual marketing initiatives or portions of marketing plans and provides program development, copywriting, administrative, communications and logistical support. The position also supports media relations efforts, including outreach to media contacts, handling photo requests, conducting media research and providing onsite support to media, photographers and videographers at events and performances. In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Specialist, Ticketing and Marketing Strategy, the Marketing Specialist, B&MC, is also responsible for overseeing the DANCEx program.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with team leads on the planning and implementation of marketing campaigns for free and low-cost TMC Arts programs.
  • Liaises with marketing, graphic design, and artistic partners, as well as advertising vendors, providing direction and feedback on copy, design elements, social media strategies and related materials.
  • Creates project timelines and manages deadlines for the development of assets and marketing campaign deliverables.
  • Helps maintain and track marketing budgets.
  • Oversees individual marketing initiatives, working with team leads to provide input on activities such as creative content and materials used in marketing, eblasts and social media campaigns.
  • Traffics assets for traditional and digital advertising campaigns.
  • Drafts advertising and promotional copy for marketing campaigns.
  • Builds eblasts, including newsletters and program-specific communications, as assigned by the Assistant Vice President, Brand and Marketing Communications and the Assistant Vice President, Ticketing and Marketing Strategy, coordinating with the Director, Marketing Strategy and E-Commerce.
  • Under the guidance of the head of media relations, drafts media materials, including pitch letters and background information for media outreach, and pitches media for coverage of events and other activities.
  • Provides onsite staffing of events and performances, working with media, photographers, and videographers in attendance and providing support as needed.
  • Handles research assignments related to audience demographics and psychographics, industry trends, and other relevant areas.
  • Works with the Manager, Social Media Strategy and Content, to provide social media coverage for events as a backup as needed.
  • Serves as a representative of Marketing and Communications at select Music Center events.
  • Provides administrative support as needed including vendor invoice tracking and other functions.
  • Collaborates with the Marketing Specialist, Ticketing and Marketing Strategy, to manage the DANCEx program, including continuing to build the list of dance schools/studios, updating informational materials, promoting the dance season and each individual dance residency, and following up with assigned schools/studios to encourage ticket purchase and attendance at events.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member and collaborate with internal and external partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in marketing communications, public relations, media relations, journalism and digital communications preferred.
  • Experience working with arts organizations, museums or other comparable cultural institutions is highly desirable.
  • Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as creativity, to support the development of marketing and communications plans.
  • Experience with Photoshop, Canva and video editing software is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and professionally.
  • Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and techniques.


SALARY

This full-time, non-exempt position offers a competitive hourly range of $21.63 –$26.44, along with a comprehensive total rewards package. SCHEDULE

This position is scheduled for 35 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work hours may be adjusted as necessary to accommodate special events and business needs, including occasional evenings and weekends. The Music Center currently operates under a hybrid work model, combining remote work with designated onsite team days. Onsite, in-person attendance is required to support live events. This work arrangement is subject to change based on business needs and the responsibilities of the position.
