Job Title: Mason/ Tile Setter
SUMMARY:
Install tiles on floors, walls, and ceilings by preparing surfaces, cutting tiles to size, applying adhesive and mortar, and grouting the finished installation. Key responsibilities include measuring, cutting, and laying tiles according to design plans, ensuring a high-quality and accurate finish, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Work under the supervision of the Field Superintendent.
Tasks and Capabilities Required:
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand project layouts and design requirements.
- Prepare and clean work surfaces by leveling them and applying bonding agents or primers.
- Measure and cut tiles using various hand and power tools to fit around obstacles and into corners.
- Apply mortar or adhesive to the surface and lay tiles according to design specifications, ensuring they are straight, level, and evenly spaced.
- Apply grout to fill the gaps between tiles and clean excess grout, then apply sealants as needed.
- Follow all safety protocols and ensure the work area is safe for all personnel.
- Must be able to clear all requirements to enter US-Base.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of different tile types (e.g., ceramic, porcelain, natural stone) and installation techniques. Proficiency with basic hand and power tools, such as tile cutters and wet saws, is essential.
- Exceptional attention to detail for accurate measurements and precise layout and installation.
- The ability to lift heavy materials and endure long periods of kneeling or standing.
- Ability to work well with a team and follow directions, with good communication skills.
- High school diploma or Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and vocational training is an advantage.
