Material Handler

Cenveo, a world leader in the management and distribution of print and related offerings is seeking an experienced Material Handler for 3rd shift (10:30pm -- 6:30am) in its Dallas, TX facility.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or equivalent with 2-3 years of relevant work experience in a production environment, and the ability to perform in a high volume environment with efficiency and accuracy.

Job Summary

Under general supervision, loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant and warehouse. Reads work order and/or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, racks and shelves by hand or fork lift. Conveys materials to or from storage or worksites to designated areas, using hand truck or power device.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)
These are functions a qualified incumbent or applicant must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation.

* Manually or using hand truck/pallet jack performs various material handling duties in the plant.
* Receives packing order and determines that correct packing materials are available at packing station.
* Assembles cartons or boxes and stocks packing station.
* Removes product from conveyor and manually stacks onto skids or pallets. Manually loads raw material or finished product on skid or hand truck.
* Places identification labels on full skid loads.
* Ensure cartons are properly labeled.
* Ensure cartons are properly taped and sealed.
* Ensure the correct quantities are stacked on the pallet and matches the Load Ticket.
* Stacks skids or pallets in designated areas.
* Keeps record of boxes on production tickets/log sheets; reports discrepancies to supervisor.
* Cleans up and disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard and strapping, and places in proper containers or areas.
* Ensure that the conveyor belt is cleared at all times.
* Assists with labeling cartons or boxes.
* If line is down, may do rework on finished product or serve as utility machine operator for breaks.
* Sweeps and cleans up work area during and at the end of shift.
* Ensure the overall pallet quality is acceptable.
* Provide coverage for other positions as needed.
* Other duties as assigned based on the needs of the business.

Other (Non-Essential) Functions
Includes functions which are normally performed by persons holding this title. However, these functions may be reassigned to other employees as part of a "Reasonable Accommodation" under the ADA.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

* Manufacturing environment exposure to high production/output machinery and equipment, hazardous materials (inks, solvents, glue, etc -- all materials an employee may come in contact with are detailed with readily available MSDS sheets), and constant noise must be able to work in hot or cold weather.
* Requires frequent standing, walking, carrying, bending, stooping, grasping, and reaching.
* Ability to lift up to 55 pounds and push/pull up to 55 pounds on a skid with hand truck/pallet jack.
* Manual dexterity required to grasp objects and operate hand truck, pallet jack, or forklift.
* Must wear hearing protection and safety shoes constantly.

The individual will not be involved in horseplay, cautious when near equipment and machines, ensures safety guards and contractors are in place and operational, maintain clean work area/other housekeeping requirements.
