Material Planner Buyer

Using MRP Purchasing experience, the Material Planner/Buyer will help maintain supply inventory levels and handle vendor negotiations. The Material Planner/Buyer will work within the company’s purchasing policies and procedures and on cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and implement effective negotiation tactics
• Review and maintain purchasing agreements with vendors
• Assess supplier profiles and analyze and compare multiple quotations
• Measure supplier performance based on quality, service and deliveries
• Determine optimal stocking quantities based on several factors including sales history, seasonality, input from sales, product experience and knowledge. This analysis will require a strong analytical and common-sense approach.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with vendors
• Develop an active process for measuring supply inventory and determining purchasing needs based on annual numbers
• Compare product deliveries with issued purchase orders, and contact vendors when there are discrepancies
• Participate in or lead product innovation projects
