Material Planner Manager

Summary of Position

The Material Planner will report to the Director of Inventory and Material Management and will be an integral part of our Supply Chain Team working daily with our Manufacturing, Procurement, and Finance Teams. In this position, the Material Planner will support 8 manufacturing sites and be responsible for the forecasting, planning, and purchasing of all chemicals, resin, stock tube, and other materials, integral to maintain those facilities production. As a critical part of the Supply Chain Team, the Material Planner will work closely with Procurement on supplier management and with Finance on inventory management.

This position requires 20% travel. The candidate will be required to work at an onsite office. Locations: Tampa, FL; Chesterfield, MO, Cedar City, UT, Indianapolis, IN, Tappan, NY, Royalton, VT, Ocala, FL, Bessemer, AL.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, creating purchase orders and managing material stocking levels (PFEP – Plan for Every Part) and strategies, accounting for economic and other risks to supply chain, to maximize days inventory on-hand and reduce technical / financial obsolescence.

  • Participate in daily production meetings (SIOP), and other production related rhythms reporting out on days on hand, in transit, and open PO’s. Redeploy assets as needed to meet production needs. Manage open purchase orders by expediting or deferring delivery dates as needed to meet plant requirements while maintaining inventory levels within storage capacity constraints.

  • Participate in Manufacturing Operating Meetings and SIOP Meetings to communicate urgent requirements and short- and long-term demand forecasts. Escalate and communicate issues driving cross-functional collaboration and resolution.

  • Monitor customer performance on deliveries and other contractual related KPI’s, working with supplier and Procurement to improve performance.

  • Track price changes, updating existing purchase orders to ensure compliance with contracts and pricing agreed upon. Partner with procurement team to ensure ordering aligns with price changes, contractual agreements, rebate tracking, as well as plant production requirements.

  • Oversee monthly Cycle Count completions for all plants to ensure compliance to company policies and accuracy in transactions and reporting as well as monthly variance reviews to look for root cause.

  • Identify process improvement areas and digitization efforts (PowerBI). Work cross-functionally with Procurement and Finance on identifying cost out opportunities.

  • Able to create work instructions and SOPs for processes and material transactions. Drive implementation to one standard process.

  • Own all Wet Out inventory. Including developing and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of all material transactions at Wet Out facilities to support plant operations, resolve questions, and ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of inventory and material movement transactions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, finance, or supply chain.

  • 3+ years of experience in procurement, planning, or inventory management.

  • Broad understanding of Supply Chain concepts, such as demand planning, buying, inventor management, and SIOP.

  • Critical thinking skills with ability to independently mine, transform, and analyze large amounts of data using various systems and data analytics tools.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel.

  • Proficiency with using various ERP / MRP systems (JDE, SAP, Oracle, etc.).

  • Ability to travel domestically ~20% of the time.

Desired Skills

  • Procurement certifications, such as: CSCP, CPIM, or CPSM.

  • Experience and understanding of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Knowledge of big data, working in Power BI, and ability digitize KPI’s.

  • Business acumen with ability to translate results to balance sheet.

  • Experience in infrastructure construction, manufacturing, and/or subcontracting.
