The Company is a
well-established Australian specialist service provider that has been operating
across both Australia and internationally. With world-class facilities, they
deliver leading multi-disciplined testing and engineering consulting services
across Australia. With operations and facilities spanning multiple states, they
have developed a strong reputation for delivering high-quality services across
a range of industries including aviation, defence, manufacturing, mining, oil
and gas, utilities, legal, insurance and loss assessing. Due to continued
business growth, they are now seeking an experienced Materials Engineer to
join their forensic engineering team. The role will be based in the Northern
Suburbs of Brisbane and will involve travelling to various locations across
Queensland and Northern NSW.
This position will provide
you with the unique opportunity to work on a range of interesting and
challenging projects, where literally no working day is the same. You’ll get to
work with a diverse range of clients from different industries, helping to
diagnose problems and providing solutions to the identified problem/s. If you

This role is not a
lab-based role and requires regular regional and interstate travel
to client or incident sites for inspection of possible failures of plant,
equipment or machinery. As part of the Induction
process, the successful candidate may be required to spend a minimum of 4 - 6
weeks in Victoria to gain thorough understanding of the business standards and
procedures.
Reporting to the General
Manager Engineering your responsibilities would include:
- Performing
forensic engineering and failure investigations.
- Performing
root cause analysis.
- Conducting
materials testing.
- Conducting
fire investigations (training provided)
- Conducting
specialist non-destructive testing (training provided).
- Engaging
with clients both prior to, during and post job completion.
- Providing
expert witness services.
- Consulting
with clients on materials related topics.
- Preparing
and reviewing written reports for clients.
- Developing
an ongoing working relationship with all relevant clients, organisations
and individuals.
- Conduct
on-site testing both locally and interstate as required.
The ideal candidate will
require the following:
- Have undergraduate
qualifications in Materials Engineering or equivalent. (Mandatory)
- Minimum of 2-3 years’
experience in root cause analysis and/or failure analysis. (Mandatory)
- Be able to travel
locally and interstate to conduct inspections and on-site testing.
- Have a solid
understanding of the principles and process of failure analysis and
demonstrated critical thinking.
- Be personable and have
well-developed communication skills (both oral and written).
- Have a practical,
hands-on approach.
- Ability to adapt
technical knowledge to a variety of materials (known and unknown).
- Be willing to learn
additional skills
- Able to adapt to Company
standards and procedures
- Ability to work independently,
but know when to collaborate with professional peers
- Demonstrated experience
producing quality technical reports in a timely manner.
- Be proficient in the use
of MS office software and cloud-based CRM applications.
- Be customer service
focused – including being capable of answering clients' technical
questions
- Self-motivated with a strong
work ethic
- Have a current driver’s
license.
- Must have Australian
working rights.
