Shift: 1st
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Saturday and Sundays as‑needed to support operations. Additional compensation is provided for the 6th and 7th workdays.
Hours: 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM/end of shift (flex as needed). Occasional evening and after-hours work may also be needed to support operations.
SUMMARY: The Materials Manager will be responsible for directing controlling and coordinating all aspects of Materials Management, Finite Scheduling, Warehouse and Logistics, and SAP Master Data in manufacturing plant.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production Scheduling and Materials Management:
- Oversee production scheduling, materials purchasing, receiving, shipping, truck shop, warehousing, and handling within the manufacturing process.
- Provide SAP Master Data support.
Inventory and Supply Management:
- Manage raw materials, ingredients, and production supplies purchases to maintain 100% supply availability for scheduled production requirements.
- Manage all parts inventory, including fuel, for on-site truck shop operations.
- Manage all Tyson fleet vehicles for the Vernon site, to include required maintenance and service.
- Ensure inventory controls are in line with Tyson Foods finance guidelines.
Compliance and Safety:
- Responsible for SOX Key Controls provisions, Food Defense Plan, SQF Program, and Environmental Regulations associated with raw materials, ingredients, and production supplies in all storage and warehouse areas.
- Responsible for compliance, record-keeping, and associated training, for all Department of Transportation requirements for on-site Tyson CDL personnel.
- Responsible for DOT compliance for all Tyson fleet vehicles at the Vernon site.
- Maintain proper housekeeping in all facilities.
- Manage safety to ensure all goals are met or exceeded.
Team and Efficiency Management:
- Maintain a motivated team to minimize costs and maximize efficiencies while meeting corporate objectives.
- Manage Lean projects to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
Warehouse and Storage Management:
- Manage warehouses and material product handling to minimize product damage.
- Maximize internal storage capacities in conjunction with public storage requirements.
- Manage offsite warehousing and product movement between warehouses.
Operational Improvements:
- Utilize SAP as a business transformation tool to reduce costs through operational improvements and enhanced results reporting tools.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or Business Administration preferred. Master’s degree is a plus.
Experience: 5+ years of related experience in Distribution or Materials Handling. Experience in meat manufacturing and supervising managers preferred.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Computer Skills: Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as distribution software. SAP experience is a plus.
Supervisory: This position is responsible for supervising personnel across multiple departments or work units that perform similar and/or interrelated tasks and activities.
Special Skills: Demonstrated sound judgment, decision-making ability, leadership, and organizational skills. Must be flexible to work off-hours as needed to provide guidance and training for a three-shift, 6 and 7 day operation.
