Position Summary
The Materials & Procurement Manager is under the direction of the General Manager, of Elevator Controls. The candidate will primarily be responsible for overseeing all inventory control, purchasing, receiving, warehousing, and shipping operations. This role will work closely with the local leadership team to drive improvements in on-time delivery, inventory levels, supplier performance & control of site costs.
Requirements
We are searching for a candidate with:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field required
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in material planning, purchasing & warehousing/distribution
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience leading teams
- MRP/ERP system experience required
- CPQ system experience, preferred
- Visual 9 experience, preferred
- SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning) experience a plus
- Professional Certification (APICS, ISM, etc.)
Duties and Responsibilities
A typical day may include:
- Directly manage purchasing, inventory, and shipping operations.
- Develop and maintain MRP systems, ensuring adherence to on-time schedule completion.
- Control all inventory levels/turns/days on hand and lead cycle count program.
- Manage excess, slow-moving, and obsolete material reconciliation processes. Ensure alignment with the finance team on write-off and accrual levels.
- Ensure collaboration with engineering and operations teams to optimize product flow and output.
- Ensure system/part setup is correct for all products before production release. This includes the bill of material, routing & cost.
- Actively manage supplier performance in collaboration with the sourcing team to optimize Purchase Price Variance (PPV), On-Time Delivery, and Quality performance of vendors.
- Maintain system planning parameters to optimize inventory levels, safety stocks and fill rates.
- Manage warehouse conditions, optimize the physical condition of the warehouse with new layouts of racks, add new products to valid locations, and remove obsolete or replaced items.
- Manage inbound freight expenses.
- Cross-train staff and follow up on all work results.
- Communicate to all levels in the organization regarding current state and future state actions. Ensure full alignment with the operations team during daily standup meetings and shop floor Gemba walks.
