About the Role
Reporting to the Site Supervisor
and leading a team of Junior Measuring Technicians, the Measuring Technician is
responsible for dimensional control and quality compliance on site. You will
take and verify site measurements, confirm installation tolerances, and
maintain accurate survey and measurement records to ensure each project is
constructed within prescribed FEM tolerances and company methodology. This is a
hands-on, senior technical role central to the quality of every installation.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct daily site measurements and record results
against completed section checklists
• Perform set-out and as-built verification, including
gridlines, levels, and plumb and alignment checks
• Operate surveying and measurement instruments such as
total stations, laser levels and digital measurement and data-capture tools
• Verify that construction and installation works meet
prescribed FEM tolerances and internal procedures
• Coordinate the correct measuring equipment with the
Project Manager before and throughout each project
• Produce as-built and dimensional control reports and
maintain accurate survey and measurement records
• Lead, mentor and evaluate Junior Measuring Technicians
• Delegate the work of assigned installers as required to
enable measurement activities
• Take responsibility for assigned work tools and
measuring equipment
• Learn and apply assembly sequences for each assigned
project
• Support the Site Supervisor in maintaining site order
and Work Health and Safety compliance
• Report non-standard situations and propose improvement
measures to the Site Supervisor
Skills
• Proficient in interpreting drawing documentation,
tolerances, construction methods and materials
• Skilled in operating total stations, laser levels and
digital measurement and data-capture equipment
• Able to calculate, record and analyse dimensional data
and produce accurate as-built reports
• Strong verbal and written communication and the ability
to work cohesively within a team
• Capable of leading and evaluating junior technical
staff on site
• Sound problem-solving ability with a focus on quality,
safety and functionality
• Committed to Work Health and Safety compliance and safe
work practices
• Consistently motivated and punctual across all tasks
and responsibilities
Experience
• Minimum of 2 years' surveying or dimensional control
experience
• Demonstrated experience operating surveying and
measurement instruments on active sites
• Experience verifying installation works against
engineering tolerances and standards
• Experience leading or coordinating junior technical or
installation staff (desirable)
Qualifications
• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in surveying, civil
engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
• Driver's licence (desirable)
• High Risk Work (HRW) licences preferred; Working at
Heights, scissor lift and forklift tickets highly desirable
