Mechanic 1

ZACHRY is currently seeking an experienced Mechanic for new construction work at our DUKE Marshall project in Terrell, NC.

Position Summary

This position will consist of but not limited to maintaining, servicing, installing, repairing and inspecting machinery, heavy equipment and electrical systems in industrial settings to keep them in good working order

Qualification Highlights

• Must have experience with equipment maintenance
• Must have experience using industrial hand tools and power tools
• Must have all Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic tools
• Minimum 4-5 years industrial maintenance experience required
• Minimum of 3 years Maintenance Mechanic experience
• Must have reliable transportation and be able to work 7 days as needed

Position Responsibilities

• Detects minor to major problems with machines and equipment.
• Disassembles, repairs and/or replaces equipment parts.
• Perform tests to ensure machinery is running smoothly.
• Preventative maintenance on equipment will consist of, but not limited to, machinery, services and repairs mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, loaders, dozers, manlifts, and skid steers, just to name a few.
• Clean, lubricate and grease machinery and equipment.
• Perform basic diagnostic tests, check performance of machinery.
• Will assist in equipment unloading, inbound / outbound inspections, take pictures for documentation purposes and move equipment as needed.
• Follows direction from supervisor
• Other duties as assigned

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Demonstrated industrial maintenance history experience preferred.
• Knowledge of industrial machinery and equipment.
• Organization and time management.
• Must have good problem-solving abilities.
• Must have good aptitude and manual dexterity.
• Good reading comprehension.
• Ability to work with others – team player.
• Good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.
• Commitment to Zachry values and safety rules and regulations.

Preferred, but not Required, knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Former ROF’d Zachry employee
• Formal education/degree/certificate in construction, technical or trade school such as Mechanics, Diesel Mechanics or equivalent.
• Basic Computer proficiency.

Physical Requirements

• Employees will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
• Will talk and hear to communicate.
• Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
• May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
• Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
• Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.

• (1/4-inch, 3/8-inch, and / or 1/2-inch drive ratchets & sockets)

Wrenches

• Combination wrench sets (metric up to ~24mm or higher, and SAE equivalents)
• Ratcheting box-end wrenches.
• Adjustable Wrenches, Pliers, Cutters, Screwdrivers, Hammers etc.
