Mechanic - Senior

Knight Transportation is urgently hiring a Senior Mechanic Mobile Technician!!

Pay Range: $23.67 - $37.00 Hourly

Location: Mobile Technician (Indy shop is located: 3875 Plainfield Road Indianapolis, IN 46231)

Schedule: Monday- Friday 7am-5pm

Job Responsibilities: What you will do

• Operate a company-provided service truck to travel to customer locations and perform on-site maintenance and repairs.
• Travel to customer yards and facilities within an approximate one-hour service radius to diagnose and repair commercial vehicles and equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) services in accordance with company and manufacturer standards.
• Conduct DOT inspections to ensure vehicles meet safety and regulatory requirements.
• Diagnose and repair brake systems, lighting systems, tires, and other minor mechanical issues.
• Complete routine maintenance and light repair work efficiently while minimizing customer downtime.
• Communicate professionally with customers regarding vehicle condition, maintenance recommendations, and repair status.
• Accurately document inspections, maintenance performed, repairs completed, and parts used.
• Maintain the service truck, tools, and equipment in a clean, organized, and safe operating condition.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations while working in the field.
• Respond to customer service requests in a timely manner and provide exceptional customer service at remote job sites.

Qualifications: What you need to bring

• 3+ years' experience with on the job training or diploma in vehicle maintenance from vocational or trade school required.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly to customer locations within a one-hour service area.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, brake repairs, tire service, lighting repairs, and general mechanical repairs on commercial vehicles.Ability to work independently in a mobile field-service environment with limited supervision.

Must be physically capable of standing for long periods, bending, crawling, climbing, reaching, lifting heavy objects (up to 100 pounds or more depending on the job), and performing repetitive motions with their hands and arms, often while working in tight spaces. This job requires good overall strength dexterity and endurance.
