MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY
Smith & Loveless is united under one cause: “Protecting Water. Protecting People.” We are seeking a Mechanical Assembly worker to partner with our experienced production control teams in this environmentally focused industry.
A Mechanical Assembly worker at Smith and Loveless has regular work tasking to layout, cut, fit sub-assemble and install piping and equipment into the product, mostly wastewater pumping systems of varying sizes. Perform repetitive and non-repetitive mechanical assembly. Using measuring skills and experience reading blueprints to prepare and assemble our products.
First shift is 7:30 am to 4:00 pm (Monday – Friday). Second shift is 4:00 pm to 12:30 am (Monday – Friday).

Job duties
- Observes all safety rules and regulations and keeps work area clean and orderly.
- Works from verbal instructions, general assembly and piping layouts, blueprints, sketches, bills of material, etc.
- Checks parts for identification and secure materials.
- Lays out valves, gauges, fitting, etc. per factory order and drawing.
- Safely use overhead cranes to move the product.
- Use and read tape measure for proper cuts and fittings.
- Cuts pipe and tubing to correct length with a band saw or pipe cutter.
- Threads pipe with hand or power tools.
- Assembles pipe, fittings, valves, etc. as required by instructions and in accordance with good practice.
- Installs relief vales, pressure switches, gauges, etc.
- Installs assemblies and components such as air compressors, pumps, and motors.
- Assembles pumps and comminutors.
- Performs final assembly when needed.
- Reports abnormal conditions of equipment to supervision.
