Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Automation Designer to join a multi-disciplinary team, designing and developing automation machines for diverse manufacturing industries. Junior engineers with 2 years of experience interested in automation are welcome to apply as trainee designers.
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical automation systems using 3D CAD and 2D drafting tools such as Solidworks or AutoDesk Inventor to deliver precise and manufacturable automation solutions
- Source materials and suppliers to ensure timely availability and cost-effective procurement for design projects
- Develop detailed assembly and component designs to support efficient machine fabrication and integration
- Manage project timelines and coordinate with supply chain stakeholders to ensure on-schedule delivery of automation equipment
- Collaborate with assembly teams to resolve mechanical issues and provide troubleshooting support to optimize machine performance
- Provide onsite technical support during installation and commissioning phases to ensure successful deployment
- Prepare comprehensive training manuals and conduct user training sessions to enable effective operation of automation systems
- Create and maintain detailed documentation including bills of materials, project schedules, user manuals, and training materials to support project execution and knowledge transfer
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to support documentation and reporting tasks
- Strong knowledge of mechanical component sizing and sourcing to inform design decisions
- Experience in automated equipment and automation design within semiconductor or hard disk manufacturing environments
- Diploma or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related fields
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in automation or equipment design
- Candidates at Diploma/design level in Mechanical or Mechatronic disciplines are encouraged to apply as Assistant Engineers
- Retired Automation Designers may be considered for contract roles
