Location: Gainsborough
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000

Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a leading manufacturer of bespoke packaging machinery to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team in Gainsborough.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established business, working on innovative machinery projects from initial concept through to manufacture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop bespoke packaging machinery, mechanical assemblies and components using Autodesk Inventor
• Produce detailed 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings and technical documentation
• Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manage design changes
• Collaborate with production, purchasing, electrical and service teams to ensure successful project delivery
• Ensure designs meet relevant safety, hygiene and CE/UKCA compliance standards
• Support design reviews, machinery testing and continuous improvements, applying Design for Manufacture principles
• Provide technical support for customer-specific engineering projects and machinery modifications

Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical design, ideally within bespoke machinery or special-purpose equipment
• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, including 3D modelling and 2D drafting
• Previous experience within packaging machinery or the food manufacturing industry would be advantageous
• Good knowledge of pneumatics, motors, drives and stainless steel fabrication
• Understanding of Design for Manufacture principles and CE/UKCA compliance requirements
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively across departments
• HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
