Mechanical Design Engineer
We are seeking a Mechanical
Design Engineer with 4-7 years of experience to support our engineering
team in designing, developing, and testing mechanical components and
systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CAD
tools, product testing, and an understanding of manufacturing processes,
contributing to various stages of product development.
Key
Responsibilities:
- Design & Engineering
- Develop 3D models and detailed drawings
for sheet-metal products (SolidWorks preferred).
- Apply DFM (Design for Manufacturability)
and DFA principles for efficient fabrication.
- Generate accurate DXF files for laser
cutting and coordinate with the nesting team.
- Optimize designs for bending, welding, and
powder coating.
- Maintain BOMs, revision control, and
assembly drawings.
- Production Supervision
- Oversee fabrication activities including
cutting, bending, welding, and assembly.
- Plan and monitor daily production
schedules and manpower allocation.
- Conduct in-process inspections and ensure
adherence to dimensional tolerances.
- Work closely with powder coating, QC, and
assembly teams to maintain flow and quality.
- Troubleshoot production issues and drive
continuous improvement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with design, procurement, and quality
teams to resolve manufacturability issues.
- Supervise prototype builds and drive
design validation.
- Ensure safety, cleanliness, and 5S
standards in the fabrication area.
Requirements
- Sheet-Metal Design Expert bend allowances, K-factor, reliefs,
weldments, tolerances
- Fabrication Processes Strong laser cutting, press brake,
TIG/MIG welding, powder coating
- CAD Software Proficient in SolidWorks (Sheet Metal module),
AutoCAD
- Shop-Floor Management Capable of managing 515
operators/fabricators
- Quality Tools Familiar with gauges, micrometers, and inspection
jigs
- Documentation BOMs, process sheets, bend tables, revision
control
- Communication - Able to translate design intent to operators
clearly
- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with enclosures, kiosks, or industrial housings
preferred.
- Exposure to IP-rated (IP65/IP66) or outdoor cabinet design is a
plus.
- Strong leadership, discipline, and willingness to work hands-on
at the shop floor.
