Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and review 3D CAD models and mock-ups of mechanical components, systems, and aircraft installations to ensure compliance with functional and regulatory requirements.
Create, check, and release detailed part, assembly, and installation drawings in accordance with engineering standards and company drawing practices.
Verify that mechanical and structural designs, including detail and assembly drawings, comply with applicable strength requirements, design criteria, and relevant FAA regulations (FARs).
Support the development and review of test procedures used to substantiate FAA Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) and Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) applications.
Evaluate mechanical designs for completeness, manufacturability, and proper application of engineering principles and best practices.
Perform planning and selection of equipment installation requirements, ensuring proper fit, function, and integration within aircraft systems.
Conduct aircraft or customer site surveys as required to assess installation conditions, troubleshoot issues, and develop engineering solutions.
Communicate field findings and proposed solutions to the engineering team for incorporation into the certified type design and production documentation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, certification, and quality to support design development and compliance objectives.
Adjust work schedule as needed to support project and organizational demands.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Minimum of 2 to 4 Years of Experience as a design mechanical engineer or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, and CATIA, with strong 3D modeling and CAD design skills.
Knowledge of fatigue and damage tolerance analysis, with basic FEA/CFD interpretation.
Familiar with manufacturing processes and technical documentation, including blueprints and maintenance manuals.
Strong team collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Highly motivated, detail-oriented, adaptable, and committed to confidentiality and continuous learning.
