Position - Mechanical and Plumbing Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer is expected to apply engineering principles, physics and materials science for the analysis, design, installation and maintenance of Mechanical, Plumbing and Fire Fighting systems for Buildings and Infrastructure utilities. Mechanical Design Engineer creates solutions, which can range from small component designs to large-scale systems. More commonly you would be working on Mechanical, Plumbing and Fire Fighting systems. Mechanical Design Engineers have the opportunity to work on all stages of design for services, from the early research, development (Concept Design) all the way through to detailed design, supervision of installation and final testing & commissioning.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs; applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials. Product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods.
• Develops mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from operators. Planning and designing new production processes
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Designing and implementing cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability and Developing, testing and evaluating theoretical designs;
• Developing a project specification, often including those from other engineering disciplines;
• Discussing and solving complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers. Managing projects using engineering principles and techniques
• Using research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly mathematical modelling and computer-aided design. Recommending modifications following prototype test results
• Working with other professionals, within and outside the engineering sector

Requirements:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Planning and organizational skills, such as time and resource allocation & commercial awareness
• Knowledge of Design Software, Strong initiative and Excellent problem solving skills.
• Experience of 5-8 years in Design and supervision of services for Buildings and Infrastructure
