Mechanical Design Engineer
Description
About the Role
Join a small, hands-on robotics hardware team designing autonomous systems for industrial environments. You will own mechanical subsystems from initial concept through working prototype, helping move robotic systems from demonstration to real-world deployment.
What You'll Do
Design and iterate mechanical subsystems, selecting materials, tolerances, and manufacturing methods.
Create CAD parts and assemblies, using hand calculations and FEA to inform designs for rapid prototyping.
Build prototypes with 3D printers, CNC equipment, and shop tools, then test and refine them.
Integrate mechanical components with motors, sensors, electronics, and actuators on robotic arms and mobile bases.
Work with electrical, software, and robotics teams to develop complete autonomous systems for deployment.
What We're Looking For
Two to five years of professional experience designing mechanical hardware for 6DOF robot arms or comparable multi-axis robotic systems.
Experience taking physical robot prototypes from concept to working hardware, including mechanisms, joints, drivetrains, or end effectors.
Professional robotics design experience and a track record of shipping hardware on a startup or small team.
Proficiency with SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent CAD tools.
A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Hands-on fabrication experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, and shop tools.
Experience integrating motors, sensors, or actuators; familiarity with FEA or topology optimization is useful.
Ability to own subsystems independently and work effectively in a fast-moving environment.
Authorization to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Compensation & Benefits
