Mechanical Designer
Summary
Delta Star Inc. is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer to support the design and development of mechanical components for medium-voltage mobile power transformers and mobile substations. If you are passionate about quality, precision, and creating innovative design solutions that meet customer expectations, we would love to hear from you!
What You'll Do
As a Mechanical Designer, you will play a key role in creating and maintaining mechanical designs that support transformer production. From developing 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings to assisting production teams and ensuring design accuracy, you will contribute to delivering high-quality products that meet industry standards and customer requirements.
A Day in the Life
As a Mechanical Designer, you will create and modify 3D core and coil models using our Engineering Automation Platform (EAP), ensuring all designs meet Delta Star standards and project requirements. You will prepare detailed shop drawings, develop internal connection diagrams, and design woodwork structures and lead routing using Autodesk Inventor.
You will also generate material usage files for ERP integration, support manufacturing by resolving drawing-related issues, and collaborate closely with engineering, production, and quality teams. As you gain experience, you will expand your responsibilities to include external transformer component layouts, tank drawings, and programming support for plasma cutting and wood-routing equipment.
Specific Duties
Create and update 3D core and coil models using EAP while ensuring compliance with company standards.
Produce detailed shop drawings for manufacturing and verify drawing accuracy and completeness.
Design internal woodwork structures and perform 3D lead routing using Autodesk Inventor.
Develop internal connection diagrams based on transformer specifications and nameplate information.
Generate material usage files to support ERP analysis and material procurement.
Provide drafting and design support to production by addressing missing dimensions, details, and drawing revisions.
Assist with the design of external transformer components and tank drawings.
Support programming activities for plasma cutting and wood-routing machines.
Participate in design reviews with customers, consultants, production, quality, and other internal stakeholders.
Provide technical drafting and design support to various departments, customers, and suppliers as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
