Mechanical Designer
NewThe Mechanical Designer performs routine and complex CAD drafting assignments of mechanical equipment for modernizations and new installations used in the metals industry under guidance of an experienced engineer or designer. The tasks require the application of standardized drawing techniques.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares, maintains, revises 3D models, drawings & bill of materials considering all relevant company, industry and safety standards.
- Conducts a conscientious and thorough design check using checklists and procedures.
- Supports creating operational and maintenance manuals with guidance of an experienced engineer.
- Working in teams with other designers and engineers
- Interfaces with individuals within or outside the engineering team.
- Complies with company policies, practices and standards with regards to Project Management, Engineering, HSE and Quality.
- Supports installation and commissioning activities, including field verifications, troubleshooting and inspection with guidance of experienced engineer/ designer.
- Assists supply chain with equipment selection and review vendor submittals (GA drawings, manuals, certificates)
- Supports procurement and supplier technical clarifications
- Supports general collaboration with service workshops.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma and formal CAD Design training
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good knowledge of design and drafting principles and procedures
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proficient with CAD software (AutoCAD & Creo preferred) and related software
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Good time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong commitment to quality and high reliability
