Safety Rail Company is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter to support the Engineering Department by transforming 3D SolidWorks models into accurate, production-ready manufacturing drawings. This role works closely with engineers and manufacturing personnel to create piece-part drawings, develop cut lists for tube laser and sheet metal fabrication, and support new product and custom project design activities. The ideal candidate possesses strong SolidWorks drafting skills, a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to produce clear, accurate documentation for shop floor execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create detailed production drawings from existing 3D SolidWorks models.
  • Develop and maintain piece-part files and manufacturing documentation.
  • Generate cut lists and fabrication packages for tube laser and sheet metal components.
  • Ensure drawings meet company standards for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and fabrication teams to resolve design and documentation issues.
  • Revise and update drawings based on engineering changes and production feedback.
  • Support engineering projects by modeling components and assemblies as assigned.
  • Assist with opportunity-queue designs and modeling projects during periods of lower drafting workload.
  • Maintain organized engineering files, drawing revisions, and documentation records.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on design efficiency and manufacturing effectiveness.
