Mechanical Engineer/Designer – Plumbing (Entry Level)

RLF is currently seeking a full-time entry level Mechanical Engineer with a focus in plumbing. The Mechanical Engineer will assist in preparing detailed drawings of engineering designs and plans for buildings and structures. Performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard engineering techniques for small projects or selected segments of a larger project. Performs design layouts and features, which require researching, compiling, and recording information for assigned project work.


Responsibilities

  • Apply sound engineering principles to assist in the design of building systems, including plumbing, medical gas, and fire suppression systems.
  • Develop and coordinate construction documents using Autodesk Revit and other design software in accordance with firm standards.
  • Analyze building codes, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on engineering designs.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, designers, and project teams to develop coordinated, high-quality construction documents.
  • Gather project information through field investigations, existing documentation, and coordination with clients and project teams to support design development.
  • Support construction administration activities under the supervision of a licensed engineer, including site observations, contractor coordination, and verification of design intent.
  • Evaluate mechanical system alternatives for constructability, energy performance, sustainability, and long-term operational effectiveness.
  • Perform plumbing calculations to determine loads and size equipment.
  • Develop technical knowledge through mentorship, training, project experience, and progressively increasing design responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
