Mechanical Engineer
As Mechanical Engineer, you will own the mechanical design of subsystems and mechanisms on a hands-on defense-tech R&D team, working under the Mechanical Engineering Team Lead. You will design fast, manufacture fast, fail fast, and iterate fast, taking hardware from concept through prototype and qualification to production. The team is small and growing, and you will have real ownership from day one.
The Mission
Your mission is to deliver mechanical systems that survive the field: rugged, precise, and proven through qualification, on a platform that has to work the first time it matters.
Why Join Skapion?
Some problems are too urgent to wait. Skapion is a defense-tech company building a Native Counter-Swarm Platform, designed from the ground up to intercept and defeat the threat. We are backed by top-tier investors and recruiting at full steam.
- Build it from day one. Design subsystems and mechanisms instead of inheriting someone else’s. Your designs will define the platform.
- See your work in the field. Take your hardware from concept through prototype and qualification to real operational use.
- Real, visible impact. In a focused team, your work matters directly to the mission and to the people who depend on it.
- Growing fast. The people who join now will help set the standard for everything that comes next.
If you want to build something that matters, with people who know how, we’d love to meet you.
Responsibilities
- Own the mechanical design of assigned subsystems and mechanisms, working under the Team Lead’s architectural direction.
- Run structural, thermal, vibration, and shock FEA on flight-critical or fire-critical components.
- Drive DFM/DFA and work directly with subcontractors, machine shops, and suppliers.
- Partner with system, electrical, software, and V&V teams on integration.
- Plan and execute qualification test campaigns through to acceptance.
- Contribute to design reviews and help mature the team’s engineering practices.
Requirements
- B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience in complex, multidisciplinary product R&D.
- Defense-tech background, ideally in one or more of: flying systems (UAVs, missiles, munitions, aircraft subsystems); firing and weapon systems (launchers, turrets, recoil mechanisms, ammunition handling); very complex robotics or machinery (multi-DOF systems, precision motion, ruggedized field hardware).
- Hands-on CAD ownership today: you still open SolidWorks (or equivalent) every day.
- Full lifecycle experience: concept, prototype, qualification, production transfer.
- Fluent Hebrew and working English.
- Eligible for security clearance.
Advantages
- Experience designing for harsh environments: vibration, shock, thermal, EMI, sealing.
- MIL-STD qualification (810, 461, etc.). You’ve taken hardware through it, not just heard of it.
- Experience at IAI, Rafael, Elbit, IMI/Elbit Systems Land, or similar primes.
- Opto-mechanical or precision motion experience.
- Pyrotechnic or energetic systems exposure.
- M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Manufacturing breadth: sheet metal, CNC, injection molding, additive manufacturing, composites.
