About the role
We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer for our Pasadena electromechanical service center. This role is primarily based on-site, splitting time between hands-on mechanical work, shop inspections, precision measurements, engineering documentation, and occasional field service overhauls. You will serve as the technical point of contact for customers and work in close coordination with our repair shop, machine shop, and internal quotation teams to drive heavy rotating equipment repairs from teardown to assembly.
Location: Pasadena, TX Service Center (with up to 40% field service assignments)
Key Responsibilities:
Support day-to-day shop and field operations, including rotating equipment inspections, teardowns, repair evaluations, and hands-on overhauls (with field service assignments up to 40% as required).
Collaborate with the machine shop, quotation team, and internal stakeholders on mechanical findings to define accurate repair scopes.
Perform or verify precision measurements using micrometers and calipers, document findings clearly, and complete assigned tasks on schedule.
Create and update CAD drawings (SolidWorks or Autodesk) to document design or repair changes for customer review.
Act as the primary mechanical point of contact for customers during on-site inspections and repair evaluations.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Preferred Background (3+ years total across one or more areas):
Rotating equipment repair or overhaul
Rotating equipment manufacturing
Rotating equipment package design and assembly
Field service for mechanical equipment
Vibration analysis or diagnostics
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
Proficient with CAD software (SolidWorks or Autodesk)
Working knowledge of: Rolling element bearings and sleeve/babbitt bearings. Mechanical seals and oil seals. Shaft alignment. Vibration spectrums and interpretation.
Comfortable using precision measuring tools (micrometers and calipers)
Familiarity with seal and bearing clearances to shafts is preferred (on-the-job training provided).
