Mechanical Engineering Manager - Data Centre Cooling Infrastructure
Posted
Our client is an established data centre infrastructure business developing and operating high-performance, mission-critical facilities in Singapore. With increasing demand for efficient cooling and high-density computing infrastructure, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead mechanical engineering activities across data centre development and expansion projects.
Role
- Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will take ownership of mechanical engineering activities covering design coordination, equipment selection, installation, testing and commissioning of critical cooling infrastructure.
- You will oversee systems including chillers, chilled-water distribution, cooling towers, pumps, CRAH/CRAC units and associated HVAC equipment.
- Working closely with mechanical consultants, MEP contractors, equipment vendors and internal engineering teams, you will ensure cooling systems meet project requirements for capacity, redundancy, energy efficiency and operational reliability.
- The role will involve reviewing mechanical designs, technical specifications, equipment layouts and installation methodologies, while identifying potential design conflicts, system constraints and technical risks.
- You will support equipment qualification, functional testing, commissioning and operational handover, ensuring system performance is validated against design requirements.
- You will also contribute to cooling optimisation initiatives, energy efficiency improvements and the evaluation of emerging technologies, including liquid cooling solutions for high-density computing environments.
Requirements
- The successful candidate will hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline, or possess an equivalent relevant qualification, with at least 8 years of mechanical engineering experience across data centres, HVAC, industrial cooling or mission-critical infrastructure.
- You should possess strong technical knowledge of chilled-water systems, HVAC equipment, heat transfer and mechanical system design. Experience coordinating mechanical installation, testing and commissioning activities within large-scale infrastructure projects is essential.
- Candidates should be comfortable reviewing engineering drawings, technical specifications and equipment performance data, with strong coordination and problem-solving capabilities. Exposure to data centre cooling redundancy, PUE optimisation or liquid cooling technologies will be highly advantageous.
Desired Skills and Experience
- 8-15+ years in mechanical/HVAC engineering, with relevant large-scale cooling infrastructure experience.
