Mechanical / Engineering Technician
Summary
Assembles, tests, and troubleshoots mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment in a precision manufacturing environment, following engineering drawings and safety standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical assembly and sub-assembly of equipment, modules, fixtures, and precision components according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
- Support equipment testing, troubleshooting, calibration, and validation activities.
- Assist engineers in prototype builds, engineering evaluations, and process improvements.
- Conduct functional checks and basic diagnostics on mechanical, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical systems.
- Perform installation, setup, and commissioning support at project sites when required.
- Handle and install precision parts, vacuum components, gas lines, fittings, and related hardware with proper care and cleanliness.
- Record assembly and test results accurately and maintain proper documentation.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with quality, safety, and 6S.
- Support project activities, shutdowns, equipment relocation, and engineering support tasks as assigned.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Warehouse, and Engineering teams to resolve technical and material issues.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in good housekeeping condition.
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by the immediate Supervisor from time to time.
Requirements
- NITEC / Higher NITEC/ Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in mechanical assembly, equipment testing, or engineering support. Candidates with more experience may be considered for Senior Technician positions.
- Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and technical specifications.
- Familiar with the use of hand tools, torque tools, measuring instruments, and basic test equipment.
- Experience in semiconductor equipment, automation equipment, precision engineering, or manufacturing environments will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of cleanroom practices and precision handling is preferred.
- Basic understanding of pneumatic, vacuum, and electro-mechanical systems is an advantage.
- Able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Willing to work overtime, shift, or travel for project support when required.
