MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

Job Description

  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of marine mechanical systems and equipments
  • Perform inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on machinery, pumps, valves, piping systems, engines, and other mechanical components.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Conduct measurements, alignment, and calibration of mechanical equipment.
  • Support engineers in diagnosing equipment faults and recommending corrective actions.
  • Prepare maintenance reports, inspection records, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company procedures, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with production teams, contractors, and other departments to complete assigned tasks.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Participate in commissioning, sea trials, and mechanical testing when required.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Min 3 years of relevant experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore, or heavy industrial environments is preferred.
  • Knowledge of marine mechanical systems, pumps, compressors, valves, piping, and rotating equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documents.
  • Familiarity with measuring instruments and diagnostic tools.
  • Basic knowledge of workplace safety practices and quality management systems.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Physically fit and willing to work in a shipyard environment, including onboard vessels and confined spaces when required.
  • Willing to work overtime or shifts when project schedules require.
