MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

Job Description

Assist in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of marine mechanical systems and equipments
Perform inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on machinery, pumps, valves, piping systems, engines, and other mechanical components.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
Conduct measurements, alignment, and calibration of mechanical equipment.
Support engineers in diagnosing equipment faults and recommending corrective actions.
Prepare maintenance reports, inspection records, and technical documentation.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company procedures, and quality standards.
Coordinate with production teams, contractors, and other departments to complete assigned tasks.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
Participate in commissioning, sea trials, and mechanical testing when required.

Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
Min 3 years of relevant experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore, or heavy industrial environments is preferred.
Knowledge of marine mechanical systems, pumps, compressors, valves, piping, and rotating equipment.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documents.
Familiarity with measuring instruments and diagnostic tools.
Basic knowledge of workplace safety practices and quality management systems.
Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Able to work independently as well as in a team.
Physically fit and willing to work in a shipyard environment, including onboard vessels and confined spaces when required.
Willing to work overtime or shifts when project schedules require.
