MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
Job Description
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of marine mechanical systems and equipments
- Perform inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on machinery, pumps, valves, piping systems, engines, and other mechanical components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Conduct measurements, alignment, and calibration of mechanical equipment.
- Support engineers in diagnosing equipment faults and recommending corrective actions.
- Prepare maintenance reports, inspection records, and technical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company procedures, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with production teams, contractors, and other departments to complete assigned tasks.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Participate in commissioning, sea trials, and mechanical testing when required.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Min 3 years of relevant experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore, or heavy industrial environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of marine mechanical systems, pumps, compressors, valves, piping, and rotating equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documents.
- Familiarity with measuring instruments and diagnostic tools.
- Basic knowledge of workplace safety practices and quality management systems.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Able to work independently as well as in a team.
- Physically fit and willing to work in a shipyard environment, including onboard vessels and confined spaces when required.
- Willing to work overtime or shifts when project schedules require.
