Mechanical/ Structural Designer (Data Centre)

Our client, a global engineering and technology company, is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical & Structural Designer to support the design of hyperscale modular data centre systems.
Location: Singapore West
Employment: Contract (1 year renewable/convertible)

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review mechanical, piping and structural drawings, including general arrangements, equipment layouts, piping isometrics, structural connections and support details.
- Independently prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Material Take-Offs (MTOs) based on project and customer requirements.
- Develop detailed drawings for fabrication, assembly and installation, including equipment supports, pipe supports, platforms, access structures and HVAC ducting.
- Check drawings and design documents for accuracy, completeness and compliance with engineering and QA/QC standards.
- Coordinate with engineers, project teams, vendors and external design partners to resolve design interfaces and technical issues.
- Review vendor drawings and technical information against project specifications and applicable standards.
- Use drawings and models to investigate design, installation and service issues and support practical solutions.
- Prepare installation documentation, model reports and other required technical deliverables.
- Coordinate outsourced design activities and incorporate lessons learned to improve design quality and efficiency.
Requirements
- Technical certificate or relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Drafting or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant mechanical design and engineering experience, with a focus on data centre infrastructure.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks.
- Strong knowledge of piping layouts, routing, components, equipment arrangements and structural detailing.
- Ability to independently produce and check detailed drawings, BOMs and MTOs.
- Familiarity with applicable mechanical, structural, piping and welding codes and standards, such as ASME, ANSI, ASTM and AWS.
- Understanding of the construction, operation and maintenance of data centre infrastructure or relevant mechanical systems.
- Basic understanding of electrical interfaces that affect mechanical design.
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables and changing priorities in fast-paced projects.
