What you will do:
As a Mechanical Technician II, you will play a key role in maintaining the availability and reliability of the company’s test and pilot systems, in addition to supporting building maintenance activities and facility work requests.
Responsibilities include:
The duties listed below represent typical responsibilities of a Mechanical Technician II; however, they are not intended to be all-inclusive. Mechanical maintenance technicians perform a wide range of tasks that can vary significantly in scope, depending on operational needs, equipment requirements, and facility demands.
- Maintain and troubleshoot a variety of chemical and electrochemical systems ranging from R&D to pilot scales
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Help develop and document appropriate preventative maintenance and calibration procedures
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to equipment and systems, including pump and valve rebuilds, cleaning, tube and pipe replacements
- Perform routine calibrations and checks on various instruments measuring parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates
- Contribute to the construction of new test systems and supporting infrastructure.
- Maintain inventory and the systems plumbing shop area to our 6S standards
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and outside agencies as needed
- Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures
- Perform facilities or building-related work requests when needed. This might include light plumbing issues, light HVAC, furniture assembly, installation of office equipment, whiteboards, and other typical facilities/building maintenance activities.
- Ensure the facility is in a safe condition. This may include wall damage, snow shoveling, ceiling tile replacements, exterior trash pick-up, etc. Emergency response may be required in the case of flood, fire, or weather recovery to get the building secure
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
What we need you to bring to the team:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of industry experience working as a technician or operator in a chemical, manufacturing, R&D environment or related (excludes internships, co-ops, and other school projects)
- Strong understanding of fluid flow processes and associated equipment
- Experience working with and troubleshooting fluid flow equipment such as pumps, valves, filters, and instrumentation
- Strong commitment to laboratory safety and adherence to procedures
- Detail oriented mindset with a commitment to following procedures and carefully documenting data as required
- Organizational and time management skills
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Basic building maintenance skills
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems, boiler systems and chillers
- Experience with, or ability to quickly learn, Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, and SharePoint
What we want you to bring to the team:
- Technical certification or an associate’s degree in a related field
- 2+ years of industry experience working as a technician or operator in a chemical, manufacturing, or R&D environment (excludes internships, co-ops, and other school projects)
- Experience with basic troubleshooting of low-voltage power, signal, and electrical equipment
- Experience contributing to and developing preventative maintenance programs for industrial systems, equipment and building systems
- Basic construction and building/facility maintenance
- Ability to prioritize and execute, with a high level of detail, on daily tasks effectively with minimal supervision
Compensation:
- The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $25.00-$31.25.Compensation will vary based on experience and qualifications, with offers determined by skills, experience, and overall alignment with the role. The top of the salary range is usually reserved for candidates with highly specialized expertise and extensive relevant experience.
