Mechanical Technician

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Troubleshooting and Repairs:

• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues in feed mill machinery.
• Conduct in-depth assessments to diagnose problems and determine effective repair solutions.
• Execute timely and accurate repairs to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  

Routine/ Preventative Maintenance:

• Perform routine maintenance tasks on a scheduled basis to ensure the longevity of equipment.
• Inspect, clean, and lubricate machinery components to prevent wear and tear.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.

Collaboration with Engineering Team:

• Collaborate with the engineering team on improvement projects to enhance machinery performance.
• Provide valuable input on equipment upgrades, modifications, and innovations.
• Participate in discussions regarding the optimization of processes and machinery efficiency.

Record Keeping:

• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all repairs and maintenance activities.
• Document the parts used, procedures followed, and any additional recommendations.
• Assist in the development and updating of maintenance schedules and equipment history logs.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Qualifications:

• Technical diploma or equivalent in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Additional certifications or training in machinery maintenance are a plus.
  

Proven Experience:

• Proven hands-on experience as a mechanical technician, preferably in an industrial or feed mill environment.
• Track record of successfully troubleshooting and repairing a variety of machinery.

Knowledge of Feed Mill Machinery:

• In-depth knowledge of feed mill machinery including conveyors, mills, mixers, and related equipment.
• Familiarity with feed mill process flows and the specific challenges and requirements of maintaining machinery in a feed mill setting.

Problem-Solving Skills:

• Strong problem-solving skills to analyze complex mechanical issues and propose effective solutions.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the engineering team to address challenges.

• Meticulous attention to detail in performing repairs and conducting maintenance tasks.
• Commitment to ensuring the accuracy and completeness of documentation.
