Objectives and responsibilities of the position

Your duties will include supporting medical data collection and analysis, developing and implementing relevant protocols and handling medical supplies. Our projects offer opportunities in a range of contexts in which you can gain experience in various areas of practice – for example, outbreak response, reproductive health, nutritional programmes. Data collection, analysis and reporting are an intrinsic part of the role. Furthermore, you will be responsible for forecasting medical supply needs and leading medical stocks.

• Provide outpatient and inpatient medical consultations, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care in line with MSF medical protocols.

• Monitor patient progress through regular assessments, daily ward rounds, and clinical examinations, including discharge or referral decisions in collaboration with medical colleagues.

• Communicate clearly with patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and patient progress, ensuring understanding and informed care.

• Ensure the rational use, management, and quality control of medicines, medical supplies, and equipment, including compliance with hygiene, sterilization, and infection prevention standards.

• Monitor and report epidemiological data, clinical complications, medical incidents, and operational issues to support quality care and timely decision-making.

• Support continuous training, supervision, and technical guidance of medical and paramedical staff to strengthen quality of care and adherence to MSF protocols.

• Ensure implementation of MSF medical procedures, universal precautions, infection prevention and control measures, and professional confidentiality standards.

• Supervise and manage team members under direct responsibility, including performance management, shift planning, scheduling, and emergency/on-call participation as required.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor diploma (desirable diploma in Tropical Medicine)

• A license to practice medicine

• A minimum of 2 years’ professional (clinical) experience after registration, in particular in the fields of paediatrics, emergency medicine or SHBV/SRH. Off added value experience in the fields of infectious disease, tropical medicine, gynecology (preferrably strong SRH/SGBV experience), general medicine or internal medicine, surgery (specialised in General Surgery or Obstetrics)

• Experience in managing teams and providing training, coaching and supervision to others

• Experience in an international and culturally diverse environment

• Availability of at least 9-12 months

• Willingness to work in unstable and insecure areas and able to cope with stress and prioritise high workload

• Adaptable and able to work in a multicultural team environment

• Fluency in English (minimum B2) and highly desirable French (or willingness to improve/learn)

• Good to know: training or work experience in tropical medicine, SRH and/or infectious disease (e.g. Ebola, Cholera) is highly appreciated

Strong Assets

• Minor surgical and obstetrical and gynae experience

• Paediatric, ER or strong SRH/SGBV background

• Experience working with a similar non-governmental organization abroad

• A good command of the French or Arabic language is an important asset (minimum B1), language training may be available
