Medical Documentation Assistant

Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Documentation Assistant to support the administrative operations of a growing outpatient drug and alcohol treatment organization.
This position focuses on reviewing patient records, identifying outdated or missing documentation, and ensuring Attendance Agreements and other required records remain accurate and up to date. This is a fully remote, behind-the-scenes administrative role with very little patient interaction.
Training will be provided, so previous behavioral health experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities
Review patient records within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
Review Attendance Agreements to ensure they are current and accurate
Verify assigned counselors, therapy groups, required signatures, and other documentation
Identify outdated, incomplete, or incorrect patient records
Generate reports of records requiring updates
Notify the appropriate staff of missing or incorrect information
Track outstanding documentation until completed
Perform data entry and maintain organized patient records
Assist with general administrative tasks as needed
Requirements
Strong attention to detail
Excellent organizational skills
Comfortable working with computers and spreadsheets
Accurate data entry skills
Ability to work independently
Strong written English communication skills
Previous administrative experience is preferred
Healthcare experience is a plus but not required
