Medical Instrument Technician (Electrocardiograph)
About the Position: The incumbent participates with the physician in conducting diagnostic and therapeutic medical instruments. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Advance In Hire may be authorized for those who are new to federal service. Recruitment Incentive may be authorized. Relocation Incentive may be authorized. Advance Leave Accrual may be authorized. This position is Term NTE 13 Mos. A term position is time-limited and may be extended to a maximum of eight years.
Assist the physician in conducting nuclear medicine stress testing (exercise thallium and stress MUGA exams) utilizing the leg ergometry treadmill.
Instruct and prepare patient on procedures to be performed and attaches monitoring equipment.
Conduct special cardiac diagnosis studies in the area of ambulatory monitoring of arrhythmias.
Operate and maintain specialized ECG tracings in the pacemaker clinic.
Enter patient data into the CAPOC (Computer Assisted Practice of Cardiology) system using knowledge of special codes, equipment operation procedures, options and retrieval formats.
