Medical Instrument Technician (Ultrasound)

The primary purpose of this position is to perform a wide range of highly technical and semi-professional procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the application of ultrasonic examinations of diagnostic quality for patients of all age groups. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

Performs a wide range of complex ultrasound procedures and studies. Includes obstetrical/gynecological, abdominal, vascular, small parts, cranial, transthoracic, and trans esophageal, and cardiology exams. Correlates clinical history of patients, pertinent clinical data, lab tests and other ancillary diagnostic exams to determine and obtain ultrasound exams of optimal clinical value. Receives and positions patients for exams, explains procedures to conduct ultrasound examinations, adjusts techniques and equipment as necessary to obtain a superior imaging exam. Serves as a clinical instructor for students from certain colleges, schools of ultrasound. Provides clinical instruction and technical imagining training for Diagnostic Medical Sonography students. Performs other duties as assigned.

Timely completion is critical to avoid delays in processing or a determination of unsuitability.
