Medical Lab Technologist 1-Blood Bank
The role is responsible for independently conducting all laboratory procedures or under the supervision of seniors following operational rules and procedures.
• Develops and sustains competency to perform laboratory activities assigned to perform.
• Participates in training and orientation of new staff / trainee and ensuring their abidance to the rules and policies as applied and implemented in the Section / Department / Facility (as per requirement).
• Carries out other duties as assigned by the Supervisor / Senior Supervisor.
• Operates equipment in the correct manner including, maintenance, calibration, QC, proper recording, troubleshooting and inform Supervisor of any malfunction.
• Drafts and participate in writing SOP.
• Ensures sufficient inventory of material supplies for daily work and report shortage of materials to the supervisor at earliest convenience. Follow the Lab reagent/consumables policy.
• Participates in proficiency testing program as required.
• Attends / read the section meeting and comply with outcome actions as required.
• Ensures to follow quality control procedures including trouble shooting and initiate corrective actions.
• Analysis of samples, review, report / release of results.
• Complies with the quality control programs and procedures including SOP (standard operation procedures) and Quality Assurance programs for Laboratory and SSMC Hospital.
• Identifies, act on and report incidents.
• Participates in quality assessment and quality improvement activities such as internal audit, risk identification, KPI, accreditation preparation and other activities.
• Manages to respond and react to stakeholders concern, complaint and report.
Accountabilities
• Completes all mandatory programs assigned by the hospital, Lab department and section specific including training and competency testing
• Complies with assigned hospital, Lab department and section specific plans, policies and procedures
• Maintains professional and effective communication with patients, family and other medical personnel including accurate handover for other staff.
• Adheres to the requirement of the occupational health/policies and procedures and Laboratory quality assurance program.
• Performs on-call and shift duties as assigned, including weekends, public holidays and during disaster.
Experience :-
Required:
• NLT 2 yrs. experience in a clinical laboratory environment with MSc. NLT 1 year experience in a clinical laboratory environment
• NLT 4 yrs. experience in a clinical laboratory environment
• UAE National: upon completion of Internship.

Educational Qualification: Required:
• BSc in Medical Technology or clinical laboratory science or equivalent qualification requiring NLT 3 years training course.
• Graduate of an accredited (MLT) program leading to registration with ASCP/CSMLS or equivalent.
Desired:
• Master's in Biomedical Science or relevant clinical MSc. in related field. (will reduce 1 year from the required years of experience
