Medical Laboratory Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION
OPERATIONS
- Supervises the operations of the laboratory so that it runs smoothly and on schedule.
- Ensure that all test procedures follow the Good Laboratory Practices guidelines.
- Responsible for the documentation and implementation of Quality Control procedures.
- Ensures that all staff are aware of the laboratory test procedures and Quality Assurance is practiced in all lab divisions. Monitor test reports and ensures that correct test reports are produced.
- Ensures that test results are delivered promptly.
- Ensures that good quality standards are maintained for all tests.
- Trains and orientates all new lab personnel and recommends training for lab staff as necessary.
- Attend to all enquiries and complaints internally or from clients pertaining to test results. Ensures good customer service is rendered on all occasions.
- Assists in facilitation all trouble shooting sessions in the lab pertaining to lab equipment, procedures and instrumentation.
- Responsible for the maintenance of all lab equipment and instruments. Ensures security of the lab equipment and company properties.
- Monitors inventory of all items in the lab. Ensures that there is adequate level of stock of lab items such as reagents, etc at all times.
STAFF
- Oversees the distribution of work for all lab staff. To be in charge of the duty roster and arrange for coverage whenever necessary.
- Monitors staff attendances (absenteeism and medical leave) and takes disciplinary action as necessary.
- Approves leave for all lab staff under your supervision.
- Supervises the work of all lab staff, dispatch and cleaners.
- In charge of staff welfare, attends to staff problems and grievances and gets involved in problem solving.
- Assists in the recruitment of laboratory staff.
- Obtain feedback from laboratory personnel on suggestions, proposals for improvements to the Management and ensures operational excellence in the lab in conformity with the Company’s Mission & Vision.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in medical sciences; additional degrees an advantage.
- At least 10 years working experience in a medical laboratory with five years in senior position.
- Good knowledge and experience in all areas of medical diagnostic work.
- Mature, resourceful, independent, meticulous and able to work under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and with good command of English (Oral & written).
- Able to interact well with all levels of management, suppliers and clients.
WORKING SCHEDULES
- Monday to Friday: 8.30 am to 5.00 pm
- Saturday: 8.30 am to 1.00 pm
