What you'll do:

  1. Perform calibrations and quality management measurements on treatment, simulation, and treatment planning equipment according to established protocols, policies, and regulations.
  2. Provide physics support for external beam radiation therapy, including 3D conformal, IMRT, VMAT, electron, SRS, SRT, SBRT, and surface-guided radiation therapy.
  3. Participate in all aspects of special procedures beyond conventional linear accelerator treatments, such as robotic radiosurgery, and of HDR and LDR brachytherapy.
  4. Perform routine patient chart checks and make-up treatment calculations.
  5. Record and analyze measurement results, take corrective action, and investigate and resolve questionable results promptly.
  6. Acquire and review dosimetric data used for treatment planning and commissioning.
  7. Assist in the design and fabrication of patient treatment aids.
  8. Support the radiation protection program and regulatory compliance, including surveys, tests, and required records.
  9. Help develop calibration and quality management procedures and train staff on them.
  10. Provide physics cross-coverage and travel between clinic locations as needed.
  11. Participate in departmental didactics and the clinical training of medical physics residents.
