Medical Records Technician

About the Position: Serves as a Medical Records Technician and receptionist/release of information clerk of the Data Flow Branch, Medical Information Services Division, Patient Administration, and Naval Medical Center Portsmouth Virginia. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Assurance of the acquisition of complete medical information for each discharged/death patient cared for by this medical treatment facility.

Review patient information on documents to prevent incomplete/inaccurate data.

Ensure proper sequence of documents, presence of proper reports, all required signatures, and inclusion of sufficient data to document diagnosis, treatment rendered, results obtained and quality patient care.

Maintain a list of overdue charts on a weekly basis.

Retrieve inpatient records from the medical record archive system for healthcare professionals to complete deficiencies and for technicians to process coding requirements.
